Séverine De Vroey

An expert in the field of nuclear power plants, with a focus on metallic materials and the quality and qualification of other materials and equipment (ageing programs). Séverine has also developed experience in applications for other types of power plants. She is a specialist in failure analysis including the electrochemical aspects (corrosion), mechanical aspects (fatigue, wear and overload, etc.), combined effects (stress corrosion cracking, etc.) and ageing effects. Séverine also has knowledge of the thermal and radiation ageing of metallic materials, and has been deeply involved in several important projects related to the operability of the Belgian nuclear power plants.

Céline Hautfenne

Starting her career as a project engineer at the European Space Agency (ESA) in the “Human and Space flight operations” department, Céline was involved in work for the International Space Station. Moving on to the Materials Technology department at ENGIE Laborelec in Brussels, she is currently involved in consulting work for conventional coal- and gas-fired power plants, including root cause analysis, lifetime assessments, aging studies, failure analysis, and boiler scan quality audits.

This 2-days technical training course will allow you to better understand the corrosion issue in the PWR (Pressurized Water Reactor) Nuclear Power Plant. The focus will be set on the basic principles of corrosion and the different types of corrosion and how it is possible to detect and even prevent/minimize the corrosion phenomena in the plant. After this training course, you should be able to better understand the reason why the chemical specifications of the circuits are important to be respected.

For interactivity, we will ask the participants to bring forward their own examples, case studies, or issues that they are facing, to be discussed during the course. The purpose of this is NOT to provide complete expertise on the proposed cases.
